Equity

Everyone should have access to buildings where they can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential. To achieve this, we must recognize that we don’t all experience the built environment in the same way.

Equity is a burgeoning issue in architecture research and practice. Like grassroots efforts that sparked the Green Building movement, practitioner-advocates have begun laying the groundwork for designing more equitable buildings, spaces, and communities.

However, more research is needed to fully understand how equity is operationalized in the built environment and subsequently how to measure its impact. Our research team is at the forefront of building knowledge around equity in the context of the built environment.
