Health Equity

Health Equity Approach

As our interest in the built environment’s ability to support positive health outcomes has evolved, we have also intentionally shifted to explore issues of health equity through the built environment lens - - or the built environment through a health equity lens. The most obvious example of this approach is with our Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Interdisciplinary Research Leaders (IRL) project.

This project explores how the design of a joint PK-5 school and community center, and the programs that it supports through its intentional design, can support the health outcomes of the users and the larger community.
