REACH

Focusing on a historically challenging building type, our Real Estate Action in Community Health (REACH) project focused on Exploring participation in public health efforts through private multi-family and financial services lenses: Investments, returns, and targeted impacts.

Funded by Robert Wood Johnson in 2016 under their Engaging Businesses for Health umbrella, the primary research question for this project was: How are private multi-family developers in the southeast including community health benefits and community health criteria in their new multi-family housing projects? Findings indicated that largely, real estate development firms viewed as early adopters did not have standardized strategies to consider, implement, discuss, or invest in health. This research has been published and presented in journals and conferences since the completion of the grant cycle.
